We planned to make homemade ice cream in a bag for our snack while at the farm,
so we did some prep work before we left.
When we arrived at the farm, we fist visited the milking parlor to see the
cows getting milked. We saw how the workers cleaned the cow's teats
to make sure the milk stayed clean and some of us were even brave enough
to give that a try!
We learned that the milkers suck the milk out of the cow and
got a chance to feel that suction on our finger.
We got to see and pet brand new baby calves,
and we learned about all the different things
that go into the cow's food.
We each made little piles of all the parts that go into the feed then mixed
it all together like the farmers do. We were even able to feed it to the cows!
We rode through the barn in the Gator,
and saw lots and lots of cows.
After getting all washed up, we put our bags of 1/2 and 1/2, sugar,
and vanilla inside larger bags of ice and rock salt, shook them for
a few minutes, and ended up with yummy ice cream to eat.
It was so special that some of us could spend this time with our grandparents.
It was a great day at the farm!
